Case study: Emergency boiler replacements

Emergency Boiler Replacement Problem:

The owners of two different properties in Dronfield had boilers that had broken down leaving the residents who are elderly (70+) without hot water or heating.

Review of the existing system:

The existing systems in both houses were old, and could not be repaired without significant investment (in the region of £400-£500). Although they could be repaired it couldn’t be guaranteed that other parts of the system wouldn’t fail in the near future, leading to further financial outlay.


Given the risk of component failure due to age and wear and tear, and the significant financial outlay required just for the existing repairs; it was recommended that both boiler systems be removed and replaced with modern, eco-friendly, cost-effective systems; full boiler replacements were needed.

The challenge:

Given the nature of the job as an emergency, it requires a lot of thinking on your feet. After speaking to existing clients and re-arranging bookings for the following day, we then had the challenge of sourcing the right equipment to replace the existing boilers that couldn’t be repaired due to the age and cost implications of repairing it.

The result:

A two-brand new Ideal Vogue Max combi-boilers fitted and up and running within 24 hours of the initial call.

The clients were delighted to be warm again and have hot water which is clearly a fundamental we all need. Given the age of the property owners, we wanted to get these installed as fast as possible so that we could reduce the impact no heating was having on them.

With a 12-year warranty on each boiler, they can be assured that if any parts fail, they will be covered under the warranty. As they are new boilers, servicing will be quick and easy which means it’s less invasive for them too. They will also benefit from reduced heating bills as the new boiler is more energy-efficient than their last system.
